The organizers of “ODM” have taken the painful decision to cancel the regatta.

An extensive algae bloom, “red tide” is present in South Sarasota Bay.  Such blooms are characterized by a gaseous emission leading to coughing, and reduction of oxygen in the water leading to fish kills.  Both effects are abundantly present in the immediate area of Sarasota Sailing Squadron.   There is a forecast of lengthy continuation of this situation.

Several local sailing events have also been cancelled in the lead up to the ODM decision.

The ODM organizers are, of course, saddened by the need to take this drastic step, and hope notice directly to registered participants, and this notice we hope you will disseminate, has issued sufficiently in advance such that expenses can be eliminated, and refunds for travel and accommodation will be forthcoming.

2023 Sarasota One Design Midwinter Regatta Flyer

We have wonderful news to confirm that Gary Jobson will be coming to the kick off for the 100th centennial for E Scows and our Sarasota Sailing Squadron One Design Midwinters on March 17 to 19, 2023.  This will be a very special regatta with international PROs and great three days of racing on Sarasota Bay. 

 

Gary will be signing any of his 22 books, so order them and bring them to be signed. His presentations are very special and you do not want to miss it.

Our 100 year Centennial celebration will also we Sat, March 18th.
