ORGANIZING AUTHORITY: KEUKA YACHT CLUB    
 

LOCATION & DATE:

The Eastern Class E-Scow Association Championship will take place from Thursday August 1, 2013 through and including Saturday August 3, 2013 at the Keuka Yacht Club, located at 12980 New York State Route 54A/West Lake Road, Hammondsport, NY 14840. 607-868-5000 www.keukayc.org

 
RULES:

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), and as modified by the National E-Scow Class Association (NCESA) and the Eastern Class E Scow Association (ECESA) By-Laws and Regulations.  The Sailing Instructions will take precedence in case of conflict.  This changes RRS 63.7.

There are 8 races scheduled. If 6 races are sailed, each boat's series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.  This changes RRS Appendix A, A2.
 
REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Coast Guard approved throwable Flotation Device.  Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device for each individual.  Flotation panels shall be used at all times. Each yacht shall carry a paddle (or equivalent) and a pump (self-bailers are equivalent).

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

1700-2100 hrs: Registration and measurement.

1800-2100 hrs: Casual cookout dinner available at KYC clubhouse.  Cookout tickets are available for purchase by preregistration for $15.  Menu is BBQ grill-to-order ground chuck burgers, Aritsan Italian sausage, Zwiegle hots, veggie burgers; homemade rolls, toppings, salads, baked beans, watermelon, Texas cake, beverages. 

2000 hrs: ECESA Annual Meeting

Thursday, August 1, 2013 – three races are schedule with at least two back to back.

0800-0930 hrs: Registration and measurement. Continental Breakfast included in registration. 

0930 hrs: Skippers Meeting.

1055 hrs: “attention signal” for the first race. More races to follow before and/or after lunch on shore.  Warning as late as 1600 hrs.

Lunch: bagged, assorted wraps: turkey, ham, beef, veggie, and cheeses; salad, chips, fruit, 2 large cookies, beverage (included in registration),

1800 hrs: ECESA Annual Meeting on the 2nd floor of the club (or 90 minutes after last race)

1830 hrs: Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.

1930 hrs: Informal Dinner at KYC Clubhouse. Dinner tickets available for purchase by preregistration - $35.  Menu is Italian Buffet with linguini and tricolor penne, grilled boneless chicken breast and/or grilled vegetables, Italian bread, local fresh garden salad, chocolate or lemon mouse, homemade biscotti, beverages.


Friday, August 2, 2013 – three races are scheduled with at least two back to back.

0600-0700 hrs: Continental Breakfast included in registration.

0700 hrs: Harbor gun for the first race of the day.

0755 hrs: “attention signal” for the first race. More races to follow before and/or after lunch on shore.  Warning as late as 1600 hrs.

Lunch: bagged, assorted sandwiches of roasted handsliced meats or vegetables on assorted breads,  macaroni salad, chips, fruit, 2 large homemade cookies, beverage  (included in registration),

1800 hrs: Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres (included in registration).

1930 hrs: Annual Banquet (served dinner) grilled strip steaks or grilled swordfish to order, grilled local corn family style, baked potato with toppings, local greens, homemade dressings, crispy baguette, chocolate or lemon pound cake with peaches and blueberries and cinnamon whipped cream.  Dinner tickets available for purchase by preregistration - $45. 
 

Saturday, August 3, 2013 – two races are scheduled back to back.

0600-0700 hrs: Continental Breakfast included in registration.

0700 hrs: Harbor gun for the first race of the day.

0755 hrs: “attention signal” for the first race. More races to follow before and/or after lunch on shore. 

Lunch: assorted subs, chips, cookies, fruit, watermelon, beverages (included in registration).  Lunch will be followed by awards at the clubhouse.
 

NUMBER OF RACES:

Eight (8) races are scheduled. The completion of three (3) races constitutes a Regatta. On August 3, 2013, no warning signal will be given after 1400hrs.  If 6 races are sailed, each boat's series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.  This changes from RRS A2 to A4.
 
SCORING:  RRS A4 low point system.
 
AWARDS:  Top 10 Skipper, Top 5 Crew, Top Woman Skipper, Top Rookie, Top Master, Top Boat 10 or more years old, Top Classic Rig (symmetrical), Top Skipper Red Fleet.
 

FEES:

The entry fee is $225.00 for early registration (received no later than July 20, 2013), $300.00 after July 20, 2013 up to 10:00 AM August 1, 2013. Please, please, please, join NCESA before the regatta!!  Entry fees include continental breakfast, portable lunch for each sailing day, Friday cocktail party, and awards.   All advance registrations must be received no later than July 20, 2013.
 
REGISTRATION &. ENTRY PROCEDURE:
 
PREREGISTRATION can be accomplished electronically at Registration. Early registration payment must be received on or before July 20, 2013. Current NCESA Membership owner or skipper required.  Payment for registration may be by check payable to the "KYC E fleet" mailed with copy of registration form to: c/o Robert Cole, 240 Upper Delevan Avenue, Corning, NY 14830 received on or before July 20, 2013.
 

MEASUREMENT:

Registration and measurement shall take place at Keuka Yacht Club starting at 1700-2100hrs Wednesday, July 31, 2013 and continuing Thursday August 1, 2013, at 0800-1000.   Boats not having a weight sticker or the lead sealed shall be weighed. Serial numbers of sails to be used for the regatta shall be declared. Sails are subject to spot check.
 

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:

The Sailing Instructions will be available during registration beginning 1700 Wednesday July 31, 2013.
 
LODGING:  Keuka Yacht Club E fleet will attempt to locate local housing on a first come first served basis.  There is no guarantee local housing will be available.  Local housing is in short supply.  It is suggested contestants locate other accommodations than local housing and attached is a listing of some hotels, motels, beds and breakfast, etc.  Reservations can be adjusted by policy of innkeeper if local housing is available.
 

MEALS:  Meals should be ordered in PREregistration.  There will be VERY LIMITED MEAL ORDER AT REGISTRATION and orders may not be available at some point during registration.

Continental  Breakfast:

Continental breakfast will be available each morning Thursday through Saturday consisting of fruit, juice, bagels, breads, cream cheese, peanut butter and jams, and coffee.  Continental breakfast is included at no extra charge.

Lunches:

Bag/box lunch available each menu varying including wraps, sandwiches on assorted breads, and sub choices among beef, turkey, ham and vegetable, with salad, chips, fruit, cookies and beverages.  Extra for afterguard $12.

Wednesday night cookout:  Casual cookout dinner available at KYC clubhouse.  Cookout tickets are available for purchase by preregistration for $15.  Menu is BBQ grill-to-order ground chuck burgers, Aritsan Italian sausage, Zweigle hots, veggie burgers; homemade rolls, toppings, salads, baked beans, watermelon, Texas cake, beverages.

Thursday and Friday night dinners:  The evening dinners are available for purchase at PREregistration.

Thursday dinner menu is Italian Buffet with linguini and tricolor penne, grilled boneless chicken breast and/or grilled vegetables, Italian bread, local fresh garden salad, chocolate or lemon mouse, homemade biscotti, beverages.  Dinner tickets available for purchase by preregistration.   Cost $35.    

Friday dinner will include a cocktail party! Annual Banquet (served dinner) grilled-to-order strip steaks or grilled swordfish, grilled local corn family style, baked potato with toppings, local greens, homemade dressings, crispy baguette, chocolate or lemon pound cake with peaches and blueberries and cinnamon whipped cream.  Dinner tickets available for purchase by preregistration.   Cost $45. 

Please don’t hold against us the meal prices.  These prices are based on our costs, not just for the meals, but also for registration “gift”, our entertainment, plenty of cold beer after the races, on site photography of the day’s and night’s activities on and off the water, and in general our attempt to make a great time for all involved!!!
 
SOFTGOODS AVAILABLE: In addition to T shirts mentioned on the registration link, Coral Reef Sailing Apparel will have goods and representatives on the grounds.  Coral Reef designed our beautiful shirt front and back.  Other items of apparel with one or the other of these designs will include long sleeve T shirts; polo shirts for youth, women and men; caps; sweatshirt/jerseys; crewneck sweatshirt; youth hooded sweatshirt; microfiber short sleeve T shirt; microfiber long neck T shirt; among others.  Please visit the Coral Reef website for more information www.coralreefsailing.net
